Madaripur: The bodies of two siblings, who went missing three days ago while bathing in a river at Tarmugoria village, were recovered from the Kumar River in Madaripur Sadar upazila this morning. The tragic incident unfolded as the bodies of Kulsum Akter, 11, and Minhaz, 7, children of Liton Matubbar, residents of the village, were discovered floating on the riverbanks in the Rasti and Char Rupaiya areas under the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the siblings, along with other children, went to bathe in the Kumar River at around 12:15 pm on Wednesday, February 5. During this time, Kulsum and Minhaz went missing in the river, prompting immediate concern. Upon realizing the situation, their family members sought assistance from the fire service. Subsequently, a team of divers from Madaripur Fire Service Station arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations but were unable to locate the children.
It was only on Saturday morning that locals spotted the bodies and managed to recover them. Madaripur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the recovery, marking a sorrowful conclusion to the search effort.
