Dhaka: The bodies of 16 individuals who perished in a fire at a ready-made garment factory and chemical warehouse in Shialbari, Mirpur, have been given to their families. The handover occurred on Sunday night.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rupnagar Police Station Inspector Muklesur Rahman confirmed that the release of the bodies followed the receipt of DNA identification reports from the Criminal Investigation Department's forensic lab. During the handover process, Inspector Rahman was joined by Sub-Inspector Mukhlesur Rahman Laskar.
The handover process started at approximately 10:15 pm on Sunday at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue. To assist with burial expenses, Engineer Md. Zakir Hossain from the Tejgaon Development Circle, representing the Dhaka District Commissioner's office, distributed Tk 25,000 to each family. This financial support was provided by the Ministry of Disaster and Relief Management.
