Dhaka: BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury today emphasized that their party is committed to restoring democracy in Bangladesh through the electoral process. He stated, "I want to clearly say that we want to restore democracy through elections. We must restore democracy through elections; we must free Bangladesh."
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Khasru made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at a discussion held to mark the 17th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Palli Chikitsak Association at the Engineers Institute in Ramna. He expressed concerns over certain political parties acting unconstitutionally, stating that those without the proper authority are engaging in unconstitutional actions. Khasru criticized Sheikh Hasina for not respecting the constitution and warned against political groups that similarly disregard constitutional norms.
Khasru highlighted the current situation as a struggle to restore democracy, urging collective effort to free Bangladesh and revive democratic values. He cautioned against attempts to delay elections, insisting that imposing decisions through street protests is contrary to democratic principles.
Addressing the forthcoming elections, Khasru remarked, "Politicians are giving interviews for a job; the people will hire us. The decision rests with the people." He also encouraged grassroots workers to remain active in the field until the election outcomes are determined.
Khasru further outlined the BNP's intentions if they secure power, emphasizing plans to boost investment in health and education sectors to ensure comprehensive services for all. He projected a positive economic future for Bangladesh, envisioning a 1-trillion dollar economy and the creation of one crore (ten million) jobs under BNP governance.
He concluded by acknowledging Tarique Rahman's leadership during challenging times, urging grassroots BNP workers to support and advance alongside him.
