Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today submitted a one-year audit report from January 1 to December 31, 2024, to the Election Commission.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the audit report submitted by BNP indicated that the party’s income in 2024 was Taka 15,65,94,842, while the expenditure was Taka 4,804,820, resulting in a surplus of Taka 10,85,90,019.
A delegation led by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed presented the party’s financial income and expenditure statement to EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed. Rizvi informed reporters that the report included sources of income such as monthly subscriptions from the National Executive Committee, book sales, donations from various individuals and organizations, and interest earned from banks.
The reported expenses covered financial donations to individuals, distribution of relief to flood-affected areas in various districts, printing of posters and leaflets, hall rentals for public meetings and discussions, printing of newspaper supplements, Iftar mahfils during Ramadan, and various official expenses.
In 2023, BNP reported an income of Taka 1,10,80,151 and expenditure of Taka 3,65,23,970. In 2022, the party’s income was Taka 5,92,04,632, with an expenditure of Taka 3,88,33,803.
Parties registered under the Representation of the People Order (RPO) are mandated to submit a report on their financial transactions of the previous calendar year by July every year. Currently, the EC has requested 50 registered parties, excluding the Awami League due to registration suspension, to submit their audit reports for the period from January 1 to December 31, 2024, by July 31.
The law stipulates that if a party fails to submit its income and expenditure accounts for three consecutive years, its registration will be cancelled.
