Dhaka: The 47th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will be celebrated tomorrow, marking a significant milestone since its inception by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in 1978. The party has organized a seven-day program to commemorate the occasion.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman issued a message on the eve of the anniversary, emphasizing the party's commitment to alleviating public suffering, safeguarding the nation's independence, and restoring multi-party democracy. He extended heartfelt greetings to party members, supporters, and citizens, reiterating the founding principles set by Ziaur Rahman: uniting the people under nationalist ideals.

A 16-member national celebration committee has been formed to oversee the anniversary events, with BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan as the convener and Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed as the member secretary. As part of the celebrations, a discussion meeting on the purpose and significance of establishing BNP was held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), Ramna.

Tomorrow, the BNP flag will be hoisted at the central office in Nayapaltan and across party offices nationwide at 6 a.m. BNP Secretary General, National Standing Committee members, and other leaders will lay wreaths at the mausoleum of Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar at 11 a.m., followed by a Fateha offering. The day will also feature discussions and processions in various districts and cities.

On September 2, a colorful procession will commence from the Nayapaltan central office. Further celebrations on September 3 will include discussions and processions in upazilas and municipalities. Additionally, the anniversary will be marked by the publication of a newspaper supplement and the distribution of commemorative posters.

The BNP will host roundtable discussions on contemporary issues and organize cultural programs, tree plantation campaigns, fish fry releasing, free medical camps, and sports events across the country, including Dhaka. These activities reflect the party's ongoing commitment to its founding ideals and the nation's welfare.
