Laxmipur: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)’s Joint General Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie today stated that there is no scope to forgive the Awami League. Annie made this declaration while addressing a prize distribution ceremony of the Laxmipur Poura Shahid Smriti Academy annual sports competition.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Annie emphasized that BNP intends to hold Awami League accountable for its misdeeds, which could ultimately lead to the prohibition of the party from engaging in politics. He firmly stated that BNP will not create any opportunity to excuse Sheikh Hasina or exclude her from legal scrutiny.
Annie outlined BNP’s vision of building a prosperous Bangladesh in collaboration with those who fought against dictatorship. He highlighted the strong connection President Ziaur Rahman had with the people and how Begum Zia’s steadfast leadership and empathy further reinforced this bond with the common populace.
Citing recent statements from BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, Annie noted that Rahman’s speeches clarify his stance against unethical practices, distinguishing BNP’s approach from that of the Awami League.
The event, moderated by Laxmipur Poura Shahid Smriti Academy’s headmaster Awal Hossen Chowdhury, also featured speeches from district BNP leader Sahab Uddin Sabu, Mohammad Didar Hossen, and Lakshmipur BRDB chairman Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan. The academy’s president, Rezaul Karim Liton, presided over the function.
