Dhaka: BNP has withdrawn expulsion orders issued earlier against six of its leaders.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced in a press release that the party had previously expelled several leaders, including Cumilla South District BNP's former joint general secretary Engineer Md Shofiul Azam Moishan Ripon, former district committee member Tahmina Haque Poppy, Sylhet's Companiganj Upazila BNP's former office secretary Advocate Abdullah Al Helal, Jessore's Keshabpur Municipality BNP's former joint convener Afzal Hossain Babu, and Munshiganj's Sirajdikhan Upazila BNP leader Afaz Uddin Bhuiyan for anti-organisational activities.
The statement explained that the party decided to withdraw the expulsion orders after the individuals submitted appeals seeking reconsideration. The cases were reviewed following the organisational procedures, leading to the reversal of the expulsions.
Additionally, the release mentioned that BNP had suspended the primary membership and all organisational posts of Akhtar Hossain, the former convener of Maheshkhali Municipality BNP in Cox's Bazar, on August 13 due to alleged violations of party discipline and activities inconsistent with party principles. This suspension order has also been withdrawn following his appeal, the release added.
