Savar:BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy assured that the party will work to earn the trust of the Hindu community and will not disappoint those who support them.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Roy made these remarks as the chief guest at a programme organized by the Shahid Maznu Foundation at Panchabati Ashram, where financial assistance was provided to priests from 46 Durga Puja mandaps.

Roy criticized the Awami League, claiming that the party benefits when members of minority communities leave the country, as their continued presence allows for the exploitation of their land and votes.

He stated that a BNP-led government would aim to gain the community's support by focusing on their welfare. He highlighted that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman had allocated Tk 5 crore in financial assistance for the Durga Puja festival for the first time, along with 600 kilograms of rice for each puja mandap and support from the Hindu Welfare Trust.

Roy also urged law enforcement agencies to ensure maximum security during the festival to prevent any untoward incidents.

The event was chaired by former Dhaka District BNP Joint Secretary Khorshed Alam and attended by local lawmaker Dr Dewan M Salauddin Babu, former JUCSU vice-president Ashraf Khan, Dhaka District Swechhasebak Dal Convener Nazmul Hasan Ovi, Dhaka District Chhatra Dal President Tamij Uddin, and leaders of the Puja Celebration Parishad.
