Dhaka: BNP Acting Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today reiterated the party's commitment to environmental protection, emphasizing initiatives such as tree planting and the conservation of rivers, canals, and other water bodies to mitigate climate change impacts. "BNP continues to work on tree plantation, protecting rivers, canals and water bodies, and combating the adverse effects of climate change," Rizvi stated during the inauguration of a tree plantation programme celebrating BNP's 48th founding anniversary. The event was organised by Dhaka Mohanagar South BNP.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi highlighted the alarming rise in global temperatures, underscoring the importance of preserving trees, fish, and various water bodies to tackle escalating environmental issues. He warned that failing to do so would hinder efforts to ensure clean air and a safe environment for the population.

Rizvi also pointed to unplanned urbanisation as a significant contributor to environmental pollution. Reflecting on the past, he noted that the sight of Kashful flowers beside beels and jhils during autumn has become rare due to the filling up of these water bodies. He advocated for planned urbanisation alongside environmental protection measures.

He urged the public to actively participate in environmental conservation by planting trees in available urban spaces and safeguarding rivers, canals, beels, and other water bodies.
