BNP Panel Clinches Victory in N’ganj Zila Ainjibi Samity Polls

Narayanganj: In the Narayanganj Zila Ainjibi Samity (Bar) election, the BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum’s panel led by Advocate Sarker Humayun Kabir and Advocate HM Anwar Pradhan achieved a sweeping victory. The daylong voting was held on Thursday in a festive and vibrant atmosphere, while the results were announced around 12:30 am.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chief Election Commissioner Advocate Abdul Bari Bhuiyan stated that out of the 17 posts contested, the Sarker Humayun-Anwar panel won 16. Advocate Afroza Jahan, the sole candidate from the Jamaat-e-Islami-backed Lawyers’ Council, won the lone seat as an executive member. Official results showed that Advocate Sarker Humayun Kabir was elected president, securing 600 votes, while Advocate HM Anwar Pradhan attained the position of general secretary with the highest number of 718 votes.



Other successful candidates from the panel include Advocate Kazi Abdul Gaffar as senior vice-president with 697 votes, Advocate Saddam Hossain as vice-president with 555 votes, and Advocate Omar Faruk Noyon as joint general secretary with 675 votes. Additionally, Advocate Shahazada Dewan was elected treasurer with 755 votes, and several other candidates secured various posts with significant vote counts.



The election saw a total of 1,053 votes cast out of 1,176 registered voters. Despite the competition from another pro-BNP faction, the Sarker Humayun-Anwar panel clinched a landslide victory with a 16-1 margin. Following the election, several members of the rival Reza-Galib panel were expelled from the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum.
