BNP Nomination Board Conducts Interviews for Thakurgaon-1 By-Election Ticket

Dhaka: BNP's nomination board conducted interviews on Friday with candidates vying for the party's nomination for the Thakurgaon-1 by-election, with the final decision on the nominee set to be announced later. The meeting, which began at 7pm, took place at the BNP chairman's office in Gulshan and effectively served as the party's nomination board meeting.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the National Standing Committee of the BNP took on the responsibility of the nomination board, as dictated by the party's constitution. Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, along with members of the Standing Committee, participated in the interview process to evaluate the aspirants.

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the BNP Acting Secretary General, highlighted that the Thakurgaon-1 seat became vacant following Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's assumption of the presidency. The by-election for the seat is scheduled for October 29, with September 27 as the deadline for submitting nomination papers, as per the Election Commission's schedule.

Rizvi further explained that the nomination board, under the leadership of BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, conducted thorough interviews with the candidates. He stated that the final decision regarding the nomination would be announced once the process is concluded.
