Narail: Miscreants set the house of a local BNP leader on fire by hurling a petrol bomb at Bildumurtala in Sadar upazila of Narail district early Tuesday. Witnesses reported that the attack targeted the residence of Humayun Molla, president of the Habkhali union unit BNP, at approximately 1 am.

According to United News of Bangladesh, family members of Humayun Molla were awakened by a loud explosion around 1:00 am and discovered the house engulfed in flames. The fire resulted in the destruction of valuables, including paddy, seasonal crops, and household furniture. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The victim’s family alleged that the attack was orchestrated by the BNP’s nominated candidate, as they supported rebel candidate Monirul Islam in the Narail-2 constituency during the election. In response to these allegations, Riazul Islam Tinku, former president of the Hobkhali Union unit BNP, refuted the claims, suggesting that supporters of the rebel candidate were responsible for the fire as part of a conspiracy to implicate their group.

Md Oli Mia, Officer-in-Charge of Narail Sadar Police Station, stated that necessary steps would be taken following an investigation into the incident.
