Basail: Liberation War Affairs Minister Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan announced today that the BNP government has promptly commenced efforts for the welfare of the populace upon taking office. He highlighted the initiation of distributing farmer and family cards and the prioritization of rural infrastructure development.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister addressed journalists after inaugurating a new bridge over the Jhinai River in the Daponajor area of Basail upazila. He emphasized that, despite starting with virtually no resources, the government is pursuing development activities. Dr. Yunus had previously stabilized the situation, allowing the current administration to build upon a neutral foundation. Limited state funds have not hindered the ongoing projects.

Minister Khan credited Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s leadership for the development activities now underway nationwide, including in Basail and Sakhipur upazilas. The inauguration of the Daponajor Bridge marks a significant milestone in these efforts. He also announced upcoming projects, such as the foundation stones for a road and a school in Sakhipur upazila, and mentioned a new bridge foundation laid last week between Singardak and Patharghata in Basail upazila.

Expressing optimism, he anticipated a ‘wave of development’ in Basail-Sakhipur upazilas and across the country, aiming to extend benefits to all citizens during the government’s tenure.

Prominent attendees at the meeting included Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mosammat Aklima Begum, LGED Executive Engineer of Tangail Mohammad Kamruzzaman, and several BNP leaders. The newly constructed 282-meter-long girder bridge over the Jhinai River, built at a cost of Taka 29,96,26,748, is expected to significantly enhance road connectivity for over one lakh residents in northern Basail upazila, linking them directly to Tangail Sadar.
