Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today announced that the party supports the legitimate demands made by teachers for better conditions. In his statement, he emphasized the importance of these demands, stating, “BNP, as a responsible political party of the country, and its Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in principal agree with the teachers’ rightful demands.”
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the statement outlined BNP’s commitment to ensuring reasonable financial benefits, job security, and high social status for teachers, along with state recognition of their contributions. Fakhrul highlighted the necessity of modernizing education management and ensuring the socio-economic security of teachers to achieve desired reforms in state and politics.
Moreover, the statement conveyed BNP’s willingness to consider enhancing the financial safety net for teachers, confirming jobs, and gradually nationalizing educational institutions if they are entrusted to govern again. Fakhrul also warned against any attempts to destabilize the country by exploiting the teachers’ movement, asserting that BNP would resist any such efforts to disrupt democratic processes ahead of the general election.
