BNP Delegation Engages with US Assistant Secretary on Strategic Ties

Dhaka: A five-member delegation of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today met with the visiting US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, S Paul Kapur, at the US Ambassador’s residence in Gulshan. This meeting marks a significant interaction between the BNP and US officials.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, led the delegation, which included Barrister Nawshad Zamir, Mahbubur Rahman, Nayab Yusuf, and Nipun Roy Chowdhury. The discussion centered on the mutual relations between Bangladesh and the United States, amid the backdrop of a newly assumed government in Bangladesh.



Moyeen Khan, speaking to reporters post-meeting, emphasized that the United States, as a well-wishing nation, has historically cooperated with Bangladesh. The meeting aimed to discuss the current policies and future directions of Bangladesh, as well as its relations with the United States and other countries. The delegation highlighted the focus on diplomatic, foreign, and economic relations between the two nations.



The visit of US Assistant Secretary Paul Kapur to Dhaka, which commenced on Tuesday, is part of efforts to strengthen strategic ties between Bangladesh and the United States and to explore opportunities in various areas of mutual interest.
