Dhaka: BNP-nominated candidate Shah Md Wares Ali Mamun has been unofficially elected from Jamalpur-5 constituency in the 13th national parliamentary election. He secured 1,99,344 votes, representing the party with the symbol ‘Sheaf of Paddy’.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mamun’s closest rival, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Muhammad Abdus Sattar, received 1,13,201 votes. The results were announced at the Result Collection and Dissemination Centre located at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon area today.
