Dhaka: BNP candidate for Tangail-6 (Nagarpur and Delduar) constituency in the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad polls Rabiul Awal Lavlu has promised to work for public security and development of the area. In an exclusive interview with Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Tangail district correspondent Mahiuddin Suman, he also vowed to implement the 31-point reform proposal of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rabiul Awal Lavlu emphasized that his main election pledge is the implementation of the 31-point reform proposal. He aims to prioritize public security and development if elected. Lavlu plans to tackle issues like juvenile gangs, terrorism, drugs, and extortion in Nagarpur and Delduar upazilas. Additionally, he aspires to improve roads and infrastructure, healthcare services, and employment opportunities, while establishing justice based on the principles of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
Lavlu has instructed party leaders and activists to comply strictly with the election code of conduct after the election schedule was announced. He confirmed that old campaign materials have been removed and necessary guidance has been provided to ensure adherence to Election Commission laws. Lavlu emphasized the need for these laws to be applied equally to all candidates and called for neutrality from the administration.
On the topic of the referendum on the July Charter, Lavlu reiterated his party’s long-standing opposition to fascism. He stated that the decision lies with the people, whether to vote Yes or No, while stressing the importance of the reforms outlined in the 31-point proposal. As Lavlu campaigns for the Sheaf of Paddy symbol in the parliamentary election, he also supports a Yes vote in the referendum.
Regarding the upcoming parliamentary election, Lavlu expressed hope for a free, fair, and neutral election, following the departure of what he termed the Awami fascist government. He highlighted voters’ anticipation for a credible election on February 12, as they were unable to vote in previous years. Lavlu is confident of winning the election with an overwhelming mandate, with voters in Tangail eager to participate in a festive atmosphere.
