Dinajpur: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate for the Dinajpur-3 constituency, Syed Jahangir Alam, has affirmed that under BNP governance, Bangladesh has consistently been steered towards significant development for the benefit of its people.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Jahangir Alam addressed two separate roadside election rallies at Jagarani Mor and Terminal Road areas in Dinajpur town on Monday night. Alam, a BNP central executive committee member and a three-time mayor, emphasized the paddy sheaf as a symbol of Bangladesh’s development and a protective emblem for the nation.

Alam elaborated on the BNP’s historical dedication to achieving the pinnacle of development. The rallies saw a substantial turnout of male and female voters, alongside party leaders, activists, and supporters.

He revealed that BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia have promised to introduce family cards for every household, forgive microcredit debts, and provide allowances for religious leaders such as imams, muazzins, and khadems.

Alam recounted his imprisonment by the Awami League government over allegations related to the distribution of VGF rice during Eid-ul-Azha. After his release, Tarique Rahman endorsed him to stand by the populace with the ‘Paddy of Sheaf’ symbol.

He vowed that, if elected, he would ensure the development of Dinajpur town and the 10 unions of Sadar upazila, building on his record as mayor. Alam accused the Awami League of withdrawing development allocations, which impeded his efforts.

“The power is in your hands. By casting a vote, you grant me the opportunity to develop Dinajpur,” he declared, expressing his long-held ambition to enhance the area.

Poura BNP General Secretary Md Mahiuddin Mondal Babul urged voters to support the paddy sheaf, reinforcing Jahangir Alam’s development agenda. District BNP President Advocate Mofazzal Hossain Dulal expressed confidence in Alam’s unbeaten election record, emphasizing the need for the paddy sheaf to rescue the country from its current challenges.

Maulana Matiur Rahman Qasemi, President of Jamiat-e-Ulama-e-Islam Bangladesh Dinajpur district, also encouraged voters to favor the paddy sheaf symbol. The event, attended by various BNP leaders and activists, was chaired by Ward Poura BNP President Md Ayub Ali and conducted by Ward BNP General Secretary Afzal Khan.
