Dhaka: BNP-nominated candidate for Dhaka-16 constituency Aminul Haque today held a mass procession in Mirpur here, as the last-minute showdown before the February 12 national parliamentary elections. Addressing the event, Haque characterized voting as a fundamental citizen’s right and cautioned the electorate against squandering their mandate.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the candidate urged voters to not waste their vote and to give him the opportunity to serve as their representative by voting for the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ symbol. Haque issued a stern warning to voters, advising them to remain vigilant against candidates representing anti-independence forces and those who have spoken disrespectfully of women.
Aminul Haque emphasized that voting for the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ is a rejection of such forces and a necessary step toward upholding the dignity of the nation and its citizens. The mass procession demonstrated an immense logistical scale, with a turnout estimated at over one lakh people. Starting at Mirpur 12 C Block, the procession traversed Mirpur 12, 11, and 10 before covering every major road within the constituency.
The candidate was met with spontaneous and enthusiastic responses from the public, with residents greeting him from rooftops and balconies along the route. Haque responded to the overwhelming display of support by waving to the crowds throughout the march.
Highlighting his vision for local governance, Aminul Haque shared his commitment to the rapid development of the Pallabi and Rupnagar areas. He noted that he has already formulated specific development plans for every neighborhood in these sectors to address local needs effectively. “If elected by the people on February 12, I will implement every plan to the letter, InshaAllah,” he pledged while addressing the crowds during the procession.
