Dhaka:The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a series of nationwide programmes to commemorate National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7. The announcement was made by BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed during a press briefing following a joint meeting.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the planned activities include rallies, tributes, poster campaigns, and a photography exhibition. The national and party flags will be hoisted at the BNP's central office in Dhaka and all party offices across the country at 6am on the day. Additionally, BNP leaders and activists will pay tribute and place wreaths at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia at 11am.

The BNP's affiliated and associate organisations will hold separate programmes, including poster campaigns and discussion meetings. The Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal is set to organise an art competition and a photography exhibition. Numerous social and political organisations, some not affiliated with the BNP, have also indicated their plans to arrange different programmes to mark the occasion.

Rizvi mentioned that district units will undertake similar programmes, including rallies, and the party will direct its upazila units to organise rallies as well. A tentative date of November 6 has been set for the BNP's own discussion meeting, with the final date to be confirmed after further discussions with senior party leaders and party chairman Tarique Rahman.

Rizvi also highlighted that November 7 has been declared a public holiday by the government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The day was traditionally a public holiday but was canceled during previous administrations. The current government has reinstated it, he added.

The joint meeting was attended by several key BNP figures, including Joint Secretary Generals Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Water Resources Minister Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anne, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Syed Emran Saleh Prince, Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, and Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, among others.
