BNP Announces Candidates for 36 Additional Constituencies for Upcoming Election

Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced candidates for 36 more constituencies, adding to the previously declared 237 seats for the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad Election. The announcement was made by the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir during a press conference at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the newly announced candidates include Abdus Salam for Thakurgaon-2, A.K.M. Kamruzzaman for Dinajpur-5, Zahidul Islam Dhalu for Naogaon-5, and Md. Anwarul Islam for Natore-3. Other notable nominations include Selim Reza for Sirajganj-1, M. Iqbal Hossain for Jashore-5, and Monirul Islam for Narail-2.



Further candidates announced are Amir Ejaz Khan from Khulna-1, Mohammad Shahidul Alam Talukder from Patuakhali-2, Zainal Abedin from Barishal-3, and Rafiqul Islam Jamal from Jhalokathi-1. In addition, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku has been nominated for Tangail-5, Abu Wahab Akhand Walid for Mymensingh-4, and Md. Mazharul Islam for Kishoreganj-1.



The announcement also includes Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Iqbal for Kishoreganj-5, S.A. Jinnah Kabir for Manikganj-1, Md. Kamruzzaman for Munshiganj-3, Hamidur Rahman for Dhaka-7, and Habibur Rashid for Dhaka-9. Other candidates are Sheikh Robiul Alam for Dhaka-10, M.M. Jahangir Hossain for Dhaka-18, and Md. Mojibur Rahman for Gazipur-1.



The list continues with Md. Harun-or-Rashid for Rajbari-2, Khandaker Nasirul Islam for Faridpur-1, Nadira Akhter for Madaripur-1, Jahandar Ali Khan for Madaripur-2, Nasir Hossain Chowdhury for Sunamganj-2, and Nurul Islam for Sunamganj-4. Additional candidates include Ariful Haque Chowdhury for Sylhet-4 and Reza Kibria for Habiganj-1.



Md Selim Bhuiyan will contest from Cumilla-2, Mostafa Kamal Pasha from Chattogram-3, Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury from Chattogram-6, Mohammad Abu Sufian from Chattogram-9, Nazmul Mostafa Amin from Chattogram-15, and Alamgir Mahfuz Ullah Farid from Cox’s Bazar-2.



Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir mentioned during the press conference that names in another 38 constituencies would be announced soon, with around 28 constituencies remaining. Some of these seats will be allocated to alliance partners, while decisions on others are pending. The rest will be announced in due course, he added. BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan was also present at the event.
