Beijing: The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) have begun high-level bilateral talks in a cordial atmosphere in Beijing. Speaking to reporters, BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed that discussions between the two parties commenced this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, China expected a free and fair election in Bangladesh and expressed eagerness to work with the new government. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, leading the party’s delegation, mentioned China’s commitment to assisting Bangladesh in agriculture, industry, garments, health, and infrastructure development.
Mirza Fakhrul called for steps to eliminate trade imbalances, assistance in modern technology, and increased efficiency. Earlier, a bilateral meeting was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where CPC Politburo member and National Congress of China deputy Li Hongzhong welcomed the BNP delegation and extended a formal invitation to BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to visit China.
CPC leader Li Hongzhong expressed hope for deepening relations between the parties and countries, aiming for new heights. In response, Mirza Fakhrul praised China’s role in regional affairs and stressed expanding initiatives through multilateral platforms for broader regional impact.
