Dhaka: Dr Ziauddin Haider, a member of the BNP Chairperson's Advisory Council, emphasized today that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is committed to fostering an economic development model that is sustainable, participatory, and centered around the needs of the people. He reiterated the party's dedication to ensuring economic progress and self-reliance for the common populace.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Haider highlighted BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman's proposal to introduce an 'Agriculture Card' aimed at supporting female and rural entrepreneurs. This initiative is designed to provide recipients with access to various benefits, including bank loans, livestock training, food allowances, and health services, thereby empowering them to contribute to the economy significantly.
During a visit to a model farm established by Mahfuz Runa, Dr Haider observed the potential impact of such initiatives. Runa's farm, which houses eighteen Australian Friesian cows and several goats, produces approximately 130 liters of milk daily, contributing not only to her family's income but also providing employment opportunities to several neighbors.
Dr Haider expressed his hope that similar entrepreneurial efforts by women in villages across the country would bolster their families, society, and the national economy. He underscored the importance of disseminating these success stories to inspire and empower rural women towards achieving self-reliance.
