Dhaka: A decision has been taken to upgrade the salary scale of 45 government primary school principals from the existing 11th to the 10th grade following a recent order of the Supreme Court.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the government decided to upgrade the salary scale of 65,502 head teachers across the country from the existing 11th grade (trained) and 12th grade (untrained) to the 10th grade, as stated in a press release by the Primary and Mass Education Ministry.

As a result of the decision, the long-awaited expectations of primary school principals have been fulfilled. The initiative will ensure the financial security of primary school principals and consolidate their social status. This change is expected to lead to a more creative and enthusiastic role for principals in improving the quality of primary education, ultimately contributing to a more advanced education system for students.

By increasing the salary scale of government primary school head teachers to grade 10, the government is demonstrating its commitment and respect for primary teachers. This step is anticipated to positively impact the development of the primary education system.

The government expects that the head teachers of government primary schools, with the support of other teachers, guardians, and stakeholders at all levels, will elevate the quality of primary education to meet desired standards.
