Dhaka:Biman Bangladesh Airlines initiated disciplinary proceedings against two staff members for alleged negligence that delayed Zamzam water delivery to pilgrims returning from Madinah after Umrah.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a preliminary inquiry by Biman found that delays in container offloading and operational negligence were responsible for the Zamzam water not reaching the baggage belt on time. The affected passengers arrived on Biman flight BG 338 at 9:10 am.
Following instructions from the civil aviation and tourism minister, disciplinary actions are being taken against baggage in-charge Monirul Islam Pradhan and flight supervisor Saddam Hossain for their alleged negligence. The airline aims to maintain service standards and accountability through these measures.
Biman promptly distributed Zamzam water from reserve stock to minimize inconvenience to the passengers and subsequently located the other container to ensure a continuous supply. The airline also stated that it has strengthened internal oversight to prevent future incidents and reaffirmed its commitment to providing high-standard, uninterrupted service to passengers.
