Dhaka: Biman Bangladesh Airlines has clarified its policy regarding group ticket bookings, stating that the airline does not permit unnamed or nameless group ticket bookings on any of its routes. This policy includes flights for migrant workers traveling to Middle Eastern destinations. As per Biman’s existing booking system, tickets cannot be reserved or sold without providing detailed passenger information, such as name, passport details, and contact information including mobile number and email.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Biman issued this clarification following a press conference by the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) on Sunday. ATAB had demanded a reduction in air ticket prices and a ban on bulk ticket sales and stockpiling without passenger names, passports, or visas. The press release from Biman highlighted that, although the press conference addressed issues related to “airlines” in general, some media reports inaccurately attributed these concerns specifically to Biman, leading to public confusion.

After reviewing the press conference proceedings, Biman Bangladesh Airlines noted that ATAB members did not specifically mention Biman or its operations. The airline expressed concern that media reports substituting the term “airlines” with “Biman” have misled the public and caused misunderstandings on social media. The airline urged media outlets to exercise caution in their reporting, advising them to use “air tickets” or “airlines” rather than “Biman” to avoid further confusion.
