Sylhet: Opener Anamul Haque Bijoy smashed a 47 ball-72 not out as Khulna Division registered its third victory in the NCL T20, thrashing Barishal by eight wickets at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the victory propelled Khulna to third spot in the points table, behind table topper Dhaka Division and Chattogram. Thanks to Bijoy’s knock, which included six fours and three sixes, Khulna eased to the victory in just 16.3 overs, reaching 138-2 after Barishal were restricted to a modest 137-7.
Another opener, Imranuzzman, made 30 and added 43 runs with Bijoy to give the side a solid start. Later, Bijoy and Afif Hossain, who made 21, edged the side closer to victory with a 67-run partnership for the second wicket. Captain Mithun was not out on 8 when Bijoy drove the side to victory.
Earlier, Iftekhar Hossain Ifti and Fazle Mahmud only could make some resistance amid Khulna bowlers’ disciplined bowling. Ifti made a team-best 34 and Fazle added 32. Sheikh Parvez Jibon and Ziaur Rahman took two wickets for Khulna.
