Dhaka: The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has called on relevant authorities to accelerate and simplify customs bond-related services, while also providing essential policy support to help the apparel industry maintain its competitive edge.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BGMEA made this appeal during a meeting where a three-member delegation, led by its Director Faisal Samad, met with the Commissioner of the Customs Bond Commissionerate, Dhaka (North), Mia Md Abu Obaida, at his office. The meeting also included Additional Commissioner Edip Billah and Deputy Commissioner H.M. Ahsanul Kabir.

The discussion primarily focused on making customs processes fast, simple, and free from harassment, which is vital for retaining the industry’s competitive capacity.

Faisal Samad highlighted several specific demands to the Customs Bond Commissionerate, Dhaka (North) during the meeting. In response, Mia Md.
