Cox’s Bazar: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has successfully brought back 20 Bangladeshi fishermen from the clutches of the Arakan Army, an armed separatist organization in Myanmar. The fishermen were handed over to BGB personnel at Shahparir Dwip Trawler Ghat at 4pm, as confirmed by a BGB press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the fishermen were held by the Arakan Army on November 5 after they crossed into Myanmar territory at Nikhangdia, inadvertently passing the ‘zero line’ on 17 boats, including two with engines. The release of the fishermen was made possible through effective communication between BGB and the Arakan Army.
The fishermen, who have now been reunited with their families, include Shah Alam, 28, Asmat Ullah, 18, Abdus Shukur, 32, Abul Hossain, 45, Ayub Khan, 48, Nur Hossain, 45, Md Belal, 29, Solim, 35, Abdul Kader, 25, Md Hashim, 35, Md Hossain, 28, Mohiuddin, 26, Enayet Ullah, 30, Nur Hafez, 40, Md Yasin, 35, Osman Goni, 30, Ennamin, 27, and Abdus Shukkur, 46. urrently facilitating their return to their respective relatives, ensuring their safe return home.
