Habiganj: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a large consignment of Indian prawn fry worth around Tk 2 crore during a special drive in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj district on Tuesday. A special patrol team of Habiganj Battalion (55 BGB) took position near the Muktijoddha Chattar along the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in the morning, conducting a search operation that led to the discovery.

According to United News of Bangladesh, around 7:00am, the team stopped two microbuses and a truck passing through the area. During the search, BGB members recovered a significant quantity of Indian prawn hidden inside cartons in the vehicles using an innovative method. The consignment was being smuggled into Bangladesh from India illegally, with no valid documents to accompany it, leading to its immediate seizure.

Later, the seized shrimp fry were released into the Khowai River in the presence of representatives from the Habiganj District Fisheries Department.
