Kurigram: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized Indian smuggled sarees from the Purbo Bhothat area in Bhurungamari upazila of Kurigram district last night. On a tip-off, a team of BGB conducted a raid in the area and confiscated the sarees, known as Swarna Katan, valued at approximately Taka 27.20 lakh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Imam, commander of 15 BGB, stated that BGB is consistently prepared to minimize cross-border smuggling to zero. He further mentioned that intelligence surveillance and patrol activities have been intensified in the border areas.
