BGB Seizes Heroin, Cocaine Worth Tk 62.5 Lakh in Nilphamari

Nilphamari: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive seized heroin and cocaine worth Taka 62.5 lakh from Darwani Textile Mill area in Sadar upazila here today. On a tip-off, a team of BGB-56 Battalion, Nilphamari conducted a drive in the area this afternoon and recovered the narcotics after searching a bus of Bismillah Paribahan, said Acting Commander of the battalion Major Riyad Morshed at a press conference.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the team recovered 970 grams of heroin and 860 grams of cocaine from the bus without owner. The operation was part of the BGB’s ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region. The seized substances were found concealed within the bus, raising concerns about the use of public transport for illegal activities.



The BGB has been actively monitoring the area following reports of increased drug trafficking activities. This recent seizure is seen as a significant success for the BGB in its efforts to tackle the drug menace. Major Riyad Morshed emphasized the importance of continued vigilance and cooperation with local communities to prevent such illegal activities. The authorities are investigating the incident further to identify those responsible for the trafficking attempt.
