Chapainawabganj: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered firearms and ammunitions from a frontier area in Chapainawabganj district on Tuesday. On a tip-off, a team of the paramilitary force conducted a raid at Raghabbati area under Shibganj Upazila of the district and recovered two foreign pistols, five rounds of bullet and four magazines around 11 am. However, none could be arrested in this regard.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Lt Col Kazi Mustafizur Rahman, Commander of the Chapainawabganj Battalion 53 BGB, stated that the BGB’s regular patrols and operations are continuing to prevent weapons, drugs and illegal infiltration in the border areas. Such operations will be further intensified in the future to strengthen border security. The BGB is firmly committed to border security, combating smuggling, and preventing any untoward situation at the border.
In recent efforts, on December 15, BGB recovered four pistols, nine magazines, and 24 rounds of ammunition during a special operation in Shibganj upazila of the district. Similarly, on November 28, they recovered three one-shooter guns and six rounds of ammunition during a drive in Shibganj upazila.
Lt Col Mustafizur Rahman highlighted that due to the recent situation prevailing in the country, special patrols, additional check posts, and increased intelligence surveillance have been carried out by the Chapainawabganj Battalion 53 BGB in the border areas under its responsibility to control law and order.
