BGB Protests Killing of Bangladeshi by BSF

Panchagarh: Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) at a Sector Commanders level meeting here today protested the killing of a Bangladeshi citizen by India Border Security Forces (BSF). The meeting was held at Bangla Bandha zero point under Tentulia Upazila of the district. BGB Thakurgaon Sector Commander Colonel Golam Rabbani led the BGB team, while the BSF team was led by Shiliguri Sector Commander Sri PK Sing.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, after the meeting, BGB Sector Commander Golam Rabbani alleged that the BSF personnel have been frequently violating human rights by killing Bangladeshi people, which he stated is unexpected and not acceptable. He conveyed deep concern and the protest to the national level, adding that assurances have been given to take measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.



Colonel Golam Rabbani emphasized that such killings are a violation of international laws and requested that firearms not be used at the zero line of the border. He stressed that individuals could be apprehended within Indian territory or handed over, but not killed.



The incident involved Al Amin, 38, son of Suruj Ali from Jinnatpara area under Panchagar Sadar upazila, who was killed in BSF firing 160 yards inside Indian territory on March 8.
