Rajshahi: A month-long training programme on livestock and poultry rearing has commenced in Godagari, Rajshahi, aimed at providing alternative employment and fostering self-reliance among residents in the border area. The initiative was inaugurated at the hall room of Matikata Union Parishad within the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the training has been organized by the Border Technical and Employment Training Center, overseen by the Rajshahi 1 BGB Battalion. The inaugural ceremony was chaired by Lieutenant Colonel Riaz Shahriar, Commander of Rajshahi 1 BGB Battalion. Present at the event were Godagari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Israt Jahan, local dignitaries, and relevant officials.
A total of 20 individuals, including 11 women from the border area, are participating in this month-long training. The comprehensive program covers both theoretical and practical aspects of modern livestock and poultry rearing, including breed selection, feeding and care, disease prevention, breeding, farm management, and the marketing of produce.
Lieutenant Colonel Riaz Shahriar stated that this training will enable participants to create self-employment opportunities and grow as entrepreneurs. He expressed optimism that other youths in Godagari would be inspired by the participants. He also highlighted that BGB is conducting various technical and employment-oriented training programs for border area residents. There is a plan to establish a permanent training center, subject to trainee interest and government support.
Upon completion of the training, participants will have the skills to establish their own farms, contributing to their income generation.
