Patgram: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) foiled an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to install a pillar near the Patgram border in Lalmonirhat on Thursday allegedly violating international border rules, officials said on Friday.

According to United News of Bangladesh, BGB sources reported that members of the force rushed to the spot after receiving information that BSF personnel were attempting to install a pillar near international pillar No. 806.

BGB members intervened, stating that no structure can be built within 150 yards of the border in accordance with international regulations. Following the intervention, BSF personnel ceased their activities and left the area, the sources confirmed.

Commanding Officer of Rangpur Battalion (51 BGB) Lt Col Naziyur Rahman verified the incident. He emphasized that there is no allowance for installing any pillar within 150 yards of the border and that BGB took immediate action upon receiving the information.

Lt Col Rahman also mentioned that a meeting at the sector commander level was convened to discuss the issue, and an official protest was lodged.
