Chattogram: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui today inspected remote border areas of Chattogram and the Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) and inaugurated the newly-constructed Rahmatpur Border Outpost (BOP) under Ramgarh Battalion (43 BGB) in Fatikchhari upazila. Speaking at the inauguration, the BGB chief highlighted the geographical and strategic importance of the Rahmatpur border area due to the Feni River basin and hilly terrain, as noted in a BGB release this afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the new BOP is expected to enhance border security by increasing patrols and surveillance along the river and in the remote mountainous areas. This development aims to help control smuggling routes and prevent trafficking of drugs, arms, and other illegal goods. Later, the BGB DG visited Panchhari Battalion (3 BGB) and conducted a video teleconference to exchange views with personnel of sectors, battalions, BOPs, and camps under the Chattogram Region, providing necessary directives on operational, training, and administrative activities.
In addition, the BGB DG inspected Bogapara BOP under Jamini Para Battalion (23 BGB) and Rajnagar Battalion (37 BGB) under Rangamati Sector. During these inspections, discussions on border security issues were held with personnel. He emphasized the need for BGB members to maintain professionalism and vigilance against smuggling, illegal infiltration, and push-ins.
