Accra:The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) has launched dedicated Country Desks for investors from China, South Korea, and Japan, aiming to provide more focused and efficient services. These desks were inaugurated at the 'Meet the Investors' event held in the city, marking a significant step towards strengthening communication and assistance for investors from these countries.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain emphasized the importance of these desks in building relationships with existing investors and attracting new ones. He highlighted the authority's commitment to creating a competitive and business-friendly investment environment despite global economic challenges.
In the fiscal year 2025-26, BEPZA signed investment agreements with 36 enterprises, achieving a 2.22 percent increase in exports, totaling US$ 8.41 billion. The declaration of BEPZA Economic Zone-1, Economic Zone-2, Jashore EPZ, and Patuakhali EPZ as full-fledged zones was also noted as a significant milestone.
BEPZA is dedicated to sustainable industrial practices, promoting the '3Rs'—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle—and enhancing services with improved infrastructure. The newly launched Country Desks are expected to facilitate smoother investment processes and strengthen partnerships with investors, especially from China, South Korea, and Japan.
The event also featured presentations on BEPZA's achievements, including investment attraction, export growth, and efforts to simplify investor services. Discussions covered topics like workers' welfare, employer-worker relations, and the Bangladesh EPZ Labour Act, 2019, affirming BEPZA's commitment to international labor standards.
Representatives from various chambers of commerce and more than 100 local and foreign investors attended the event, underscoring BEPZA's role in promoting export-oriented industrialization and investment in Bangladesh.
