Kurigram: Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna today expressed optimism that BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will soon recover and be able to participate in the forthcoming election.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Manna acknowledged Begum Zia’s significant contributions to the nation’s democratic movements, emphasizing, “She suffered a lot. We want her to participate in the coming election after recovering from illness.”

Manna voiced concerns regarding Begum Khaleda Zia’s health, which he noted could impact the election schedule, adding, “However, we want her to recover quickly and the election to be held on time.” His remarks were made during a discussion with journalists following the inauguration of the Nagorik Oikya district office in Kurigram.

In response to questions about potential political alliances, Manna revealed that discussions are ongoing, but no definitive agreements have been reached. “We don’t want to do anything alone, but we want to move forward with everyone,” he stated.

The event was attended by Nagorik Oikya General Secretary Shahidullah Kaiser, Central Member Abdur Razzak, District Committee Convener Bir Muktijoddha (retd) Major Abdus Salam, and Member Secretary Johbadul Islam Bablu, among others.

Later, Manna addressed a rally of freedom fighters at Bijoy Stambha (victory monument) at College Crossing.
