Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia stepped into her 81st year today. Her birth anniversary was celebrated in jubilations across the country.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, special prayers were offered at mosques and BNP offices nationwide to mark the day. BNP organized a milad and dua mahfil at its central office before Jummah prayers to honor the occasion. Special meals, known as tabarak, were distributed at Majumdar Bari in Fulgazi upazila of Feni, her ancestral home, where Khaleda Zia’s younger brother, Zahid Hossain Majumder, arranged the function.
In Sripur upazila of Gazipur, BNP leaders held a dua mahfil and distributed clothes among destitute people, demonstrating their commitment to social welfare. Gopalganj district BNP and its associate organizations hosted a milad mahfil at the party office in the morning. Meanwhile, the Khulna metropolitan unit of BNP held special prayers at the KD Ghosh party office in the city at 11:00 am.
Such programs in honor of Begum Khaleda Zia were held in several districts and upazilas, including Kurigram, Mymensingh, Rangamati, Joypurhat, Sonargaon, Bogura, and Faridpur. Additionally, BNP’s student wing, Jatioatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), celebrated the birth anniversary by offering special prayers for her good health at the central mosque of Dhaka University.
