Mymensingh: The newly built Begum Khaleda Zia Hall was inaugurated at the Bangladesh Agriculture University (BAU) here to provide more residential facilities for the female students. The inauguration ceremony took place at the conference room of the newly built hall.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Provost of the Begum Khaleda Zia Hall, Prof. Abdul Kader, presided over the inauguration ceremony, while BAU Vice Chancellor Prof. A K Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan joined the event as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included BAU Student Affairs Advisor Prof. Md Shahidul Haque, Dean's Council Convener Prof. Md Rafiqul Islam Sardar, Provost's Council Convener Prof. Ruhul Amin, Planning and Development Branch Director Prof. Mosharraf Uddin Bhuiyan, Treasurer (Acting) Prof. Humayun Kabir, Proctor Prof. Abdul Alim, and Registrar (Acting) Agriculturist Dr. Md Helal Uddin.
Speaking as the chief guest, the BAU Vice Chancellor remarked that Begum Khaleda Zia represents unity and steadfastness in the nation. He highlighted the significance of the day for BAU, as the new hall bears the name of a leader known for her dedication to the country and her unwavering commitment to democracy and truth.
Initially, the hall has allocated seats for 350 female students. After the completion of its construction, it is expected to accommodate a total of 1,200 students, according to university sources.
