BDRCS Bagerhat Unit Forms New Committee After Two Decades

Bagerhat: Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Bagerhat Unit has successfully formed a new committee after 20 years, marking a significant milestone with peaceful elections held on Thursday. Professor Sheikh Mostahidul Alam Robi, who previously served as the Vice Principal of Government PC College, was elected as Vice President. BNP leader Mahbubur Rahman Tutul secured the position of Secretary through a direct vote by the life members.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Golam Md. Baten officially announced the election results. The voting process was conducted smoothly from 8 am to 4 pm, with a voter turnout of 780 out of over 2,700 life members. This election saw eleven candidates vying for five executive member positions.

The newly elected executive members include SM Mahabub Morshed Lalon, a Government Counsel at the District Judge Court, Nargis Akhter Eva, General Secretary of the Women's Party, Rehana Parvin Lucky, Executive Director of Shapla Phul, as well as Farukuzzaman Bappi and former Red Crescent Youth Chief Md. Al Amin Sardar.
