Washington DC: The 53rd Armed Forces Day was celebrated in the Bangladesh embassy in Washington DC on Thursday, as per a press release received today. The Embassy organized a reception in the evening, which was attended by diplomats from various countries, senior officials from the Pentagon, and the US State Department, alongside members of the Bangladeshi Diaspora and embassy staff. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ceremony was graced by Vice Admiral J. Brad Skillman, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Integration of Capabilities and Resources of the USA, as the chief guest. Key speakers included DM Salahuddin Mahmud, Chargé d'Affaires of Bangladesh to the United States, and Brigadier General Md Shahedul Islam, Defense Attaché. In his remarks, Vice Admiral Skillman commended the Bangladesh Armed Forces for their significant role in safeguarding national sovereignty and promoting global peace. He acknowledged their leadership in disaster relief efforts, support for the underprivileged, and co mmitment to maintaining peace and stability worldwide. He also highlighted Bangladesh's status as the largest contributor of troops to UN peacekeeping missions, noting the international recognition it has garnered for its dedication and sacrifice. Skillman further emphasized the robust partnership between the Bangladesh and US Armed Forces, expressing his optimism for ongoing collaboration to further peace and prosperity. Chargé d'Affaires Mahmud echoed these sentiments, accentuating the comprehensive defense collaboration between Bangladesh and the USA, and reaffirming Bangladesh's commitment to strengthening ties and fostering future engagements. The event featured a documentary on the Bangladesh Armed Forces, demonstrating their dedication and activities.
