Dhaka: The Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) today organised a training workshop on the Public Procurement Act, 2006, Public Procurement Rules, 2025, and the electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system. The workshop was conducted at the BCI boardroom in the capital and saw participation from BCI members, government procurement organisations, lawyers, entrepreneurs, and trainees, as stated in a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BCI Senior Vice President Preeti Chakraborty chaired the inaugural session while BCI President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez) presided over the closing session and handed out training certificates to the attendees. Former secretary and former Chief Executive Officer of the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority, S M Moin Uddin Ahmed, served as the resource person for the workshop.
In her opening remarks, Preeti Chakraborty emphasized BCI's continuous efforts to bolster the business community's capabilities. She highlighted that the training would equip participants with essential knowledge on the technical aspects of the e-GP system, thereby aiding them to maintain competitiveness in the business sector.
The resource person led two crucial sessions entitled "An overview of Public Procurement Act, 2006 and Public Procurement Rules, 2025" and "An introduction to e-GP system, how it works and benefits." He elaborated on significant aspects of public procurement laws and rules and underscored the e-GP system's role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and digital transformation in government procurement in Bangladesh. He also detailed how businesses can engage in the tendering process via the e-GP system, which can streamline procurement activities.
During the concluding session, participants shared their insights on the training programme. BCI President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury reiterated the chamber's ongoing training initiatives and expressed gratitude to the resource person and participants on behalf of BCI. Participants conveyed their satisfaction with the workshop, appreciating the interactive question-and-answer session that enhanced the training's practicality and utility.
