Dhaka: The Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) hosted a 12-member delegation from Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (ZSTU), China, at a discussion meeting held at the BCCCI Office in Dhaka on Saturday. The delegation, which included professors and academic professionals specialising in fashion design, textiles, technology, and engineering, was led by Professor Xu Qiujie, Vice Dean and Professor of the School of Fashion, Design and Engineering at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Xu Qiujie expressed the university's interest in expanding academic and industry collaboration with Bangladesh. He highlighted opportunities for joint academic programmes, university-to-university cooperation, technical knowledge exchange, industry-oriented training, and capacity-building initiatives. Additionally, he expressed a desire to create opportunities for Bangladeshi students studying fashion, textiles, and related disciplines to pursue academic and practical learning opportunities at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, including exposure to China's textile and fashion industries.
Mohd. Khorshed Alam, President of BCCCI, welcomed the delegation and emphasised the importance of strengthening Bangladesh-China cooperation in education, technical skills development, textiles, fashion, and industry-based training. He mentioned BCCCI's eagerness to facilitate stronger links between Bangladeshi educational institutions, textile industries, and Chinese universities and industries. He also highlighted a BCCCI initiative to provide Bangladeshi textile students with practical exposure in China through factory visits, industry engagement, and hands-on training.
An open discussion followed the formal session, where representatives from both sides exchanged views on potential areas of cooperation, including student exchange, university collaboration, technical training, industry exposure, knowledge sharing, and joint initiatives in fashion and textile education. The meeting was attended by Mr. Masud Ali Khan, Vice President of BCCCI; Professor Rakibul Hoque, Director of BCCCI; representatives of the National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NITER); along with other BCCCI members and representatives of the visiting delegation.
The meeting concluded with a shared understanding of the importance of developing long-term academic, technical, and industry linkages between Bangladesh and China in the fields of fashion, textiles, technology, and related sectors. The BCCCI and Zhejiang Sci-Tech University expressed their interest in maintaining close communication and exploring practical opportunities to translate the discussions into meaningful and sustainable collaborative initiatives.
