Gulshan:The Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) and the CCPIT Academy of Beijing have initiated discussions to enhance bilateral trade, investment, and cooperation in the exhibition industry between Bangladesh and China.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting took place at the BCCCI office in Gulshan, where a delegation from the CCPIT Academy, led by Dean Ms. Zhao Ping, focused on exploring opportunities in energy, the exhibition industry, and research and knowledge exchange. This initiative aims to identify new business avenues and strengthen institutional ties between the two nations.
Ms. Zhao Ping emphasized China's major exhibitions and consumer preferences, noting the academy's research activities. She highlighted the visit's goal of introducing Bangladesh's investment climate and business opportunities to Chinese enterprises, alongside enhancing their understanding of foreign markets. She also praised Bangladesh's economic growth, large consumer market, and business potential.
During the discussions, BCCCI leaders addressed energy supply constraints as a significant challenge affecting cross-border trade and investment. They explored potential Chinese investments in alternative energy solutions, such as mini-LPG storage facilities, battery technology, and solar energy, to meet Bangladesh's energy needs.
The meeting also covered the development of exhibition infrastructure, particularly in Chattogram, and improving connectivity at exhibition venues. There was a focus on organizing specialized exhibitions on emerging sectors like electric vehicles, solar energy, and food, along with Chinese support for provincial exhibitions and cooperation in the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) sector.
Participants suggested joint research and knowledge exchange initiatives to address information gaps in the business sector, aimed at expanding bilateral trade. BCCCI Executive Director Md. Abu Taher urged the Chinese organization to facilitate BCCCI's participation in major Chinese exhibitions and training programs. He also invited more CCPIT delegations to visit Bangladesh to deepen institutional engagement.
The meeting, attended by several BCCCI officials, is expected to pave the way for further cooperation in research, technology transfer, investment, and exhibition-sector development, translating shared interests into practical business opportunities for both countries.
