Dhaka: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has launched a six-day Level One Coaching Course as they are keen to set a platform for the first-class cricketers to enhance their cricket knowledge while preparing for future roles in the game. The course began last Saturday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, with 32 participants taking part. Organized by the BCB's Game Development Department, the program features sessions conducted by national team coaches Mohammad Salahuddin, Sohel Islam, and Navid Newaz.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, among the participants are former Bangladesh international cricketers Arafat Sunny, Mahmudullah Riyad, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, and Fazle Rabbi. Former Test cricketer Kamrul Islam Rabbi expressed that the course would be highly beneficial and help him build a stronger understanding of the game. "I believe this is a very good course and we will benefit greatly from it. I want to continue playing cricket for another three to four years, and I will try to apply what I learn here in my career," Rabbi stated.
Explaining his decision to join the program, Rabbi emphasized the importance of learning cricket fundamentals. "The main reason behind taking this course is to gain more knowledge. Level One creates a strong foundation for cricket and understanding the basics of the game is extremely important," he added.
The course curriculum covers a comprehensive range of topics, including biomechanics, practice and program planning, skill acquisition, team planning, player technique evaluation, and methods for correcting technical flaws. The BCB has also arranged Level Two and Level Three coaching courses this year as part of its continued development program. A total of 32 participants completed the Level Two course held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium from July 15 to 20 under the guidance of ICC Level Three Master Educator and former Nepal international cricketer Binod Kumar Das. Following that, 30 participants successfully completed the Level Three coaching course.
