Dhaka:The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has overhauled its High Performance (HP) programme to better prepare cricketers for the challenges of international cricket. This initiative aims to address issues such as consistency, injury management, and the transition from age-group to senior-level cricket.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the revamped programme will provide a structured environment for elite players, allowing them to develop skills, address weaknesses, and prepare for international cricket returns. The programme will focus on cricketers close to national selection or those who have previously represented Bangladesh, including current national players not engaged in international duties.

The BCB plans to enhance the coaching structure by appointing specialists. Mohammad Salahuddin has been named head coach, with Sohel Islam as senior HP coach, Abdur Razzak joining the staff, and Corey Collymore as pace-bowling coach. The programme, established in 2004, has produced notable talents like Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim and aims to bridge the gap between age-group and senior cricket.

Activities in 2026 have included series against Zimbabwe A, a tour to South Africa, and participation in Australia's Top End T20 tournament. A Women’s HP unit is also being developed. The BCB is exploring additional bilateral series to provide players with competitive exposure.

Injury management, particularly for fast bowlers, will be a focus, with plans for a comprehensive rehabilitation framework. This approach aims to minimize disruptions and enhance players' availability for both domestic and international cricket.
