Dhaka: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today announced a 25-member preliminary squad for the upcoming Asia Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The announcement sets the stage for Bangladesh’s preparations as they aim to make a significant impact in the tournament.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BCB has instructed the available players to report for a fitness camp at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on August 6. Following the fitness assessments, skill training will commence at the same venue on August 15. The training camp is scheduled to move to Sylhet on August 20, where the players will further hone their skills.

In preparation for the Asia Cup, Bangladesh is likely to engage in a T20 series against the Netherlands. Although the BCB has not yet released the official itinerary, the series is expected to consist of three matches, taking place between August 26 and September 4 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Initially, Bangladesh was schedule
d to play three ODIs and three T20 matches against India this August. However, the tour was postponed for a year, leading the BCB to organize the series against the Netherlands as part of their strategic build-up for the Asia Cup. This marks the Netherlands’ inaugural tour of Bangladesh for a bilateral T20 series.

The preliminary T20 squad includes key players such as Liton Das, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, and Naim Sheikh, among others, providing a mix of talent and experience as Bangladesh gears up for the competitions ahead.
