BB Restructures Board with New Appointments.

Bangladesh Bank: Bangladesh Bank (BB) has restructured its Board of Directors by adding three new members. The development came through a board meeting held today at the BB headquarters in the city, said Husne Ara Shikha, BB Executive Director and spokesperson, after the meeting.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the three new directors are Fahmida Khatun, executive director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Md Habibur Rahman, deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank, and Nazma Mubarek, the secretary of the Financial Institutions Division. The appointments are part of Bangladesh Bank’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its governance and oversight capabilities.

Shikha also announced that today’s board meeting set and passed the area of responsibility of the six-member taskforce, which was established in September to conduct reform works in the banking sector. This taskforce is expected to play a crucial role in implementing necessary reforms to enhance the efficiency and stability of the banking indust
ry.

Additionally, the central bank’s board was formally briefed about the writ petition regarding the Beximco Group. This legal matter has been a topic of interest, and today’s briefing aimed to update board members on its current status and implications for the bank.
